Week 7 and 8
We had sooooo much fun these past few weeks. Lots of end of the year performace preperations and we can't wait to show you all we've worked on!
We learned about the United Kingdom a few weeks ago. We learned about the Royal Family, Stonehenge, and ate delicious Scones with Jam. Here is the yummy Recipe: http://tikkido.com/node/793 . We also made these cute British Guardsout of Vintage Clothes pins and Pom Poms.
We finished up out last few weeks of the library Program and completed our superhero costumes. As walking back to school I thought it was so cute watching all the kids in a line wearing thier capes.
We did a few more Maker Spaces. We made birds nests. The kids were given 15 minutes to go out in nature with thier groups and find anything natural to make a bird nest that could hold 3 "eggs." It was amazing to see what they could come up with as a group. The next week the kids were giving objects to make a car. The kids had 45 minutes to complete the task. They needed it to run down a ramp and go straight for 6 inches. All but one car worked. We call that a success. The kids learned through trial and error that making the car heavier would make it go faster and straighter. We also made Nature faces which turned out super cute!
We had a wonderful time playing water kickball for Wacky Wednesday! We played normal kickball but all the bases were pools and at base was a slip n' slide. It was so fun! Check out the video!!! This definetely was a summer favorite!!!
We had a boys and girls day. The girls had a spa day and got thier nails painted and they danced to all thier favorite songs. The boys had a pirate day. We made hats and went looking for bured tresure. We had to complete many challenges before we could find but alas we did find the tresure and all the boys yelled "Aaaaargh!" :)
Last week we spend all week learning about Egypt. We tried Basbousa which is like a rose flavored cornbread. Here is the recipe: http://www.rewaj.pk/recipe/basbousa-recipe.html .
We learned all about modern Egypt on Monday and then spent the rest of the week learning about Ancient Egypt. We learned about Mummification and even made our own mummies. We made 3D Pyramids and made Ancient Egyptian Headdresses. So much fun!
