Week 5 and 6

This week we learned about Spain. We learned about the Running of the Bulls and the La Tomatina. We all decided we'd like to go there in August and join in on the festival where they have a giant Tomato food fight. We tried Paella and everyone but 2 people loved it. Here is the link to the recipe: http://www.marthastewart.com/339216/easy-paella?czone=food/comfort-foods-center/comfort-foods-dishes I did not use th meat they suggest in the recipe. I used chicken and kielbasa sausage.

We also went out in to nature and found leaves, thornes, flowers, weeds, grass, mushrooms, and all sorts of good stuff and made beautiful sun prints. The kids had a blast with this!

For Wacky Wednesday we played Amazing Race. Each group had to visit all countries and figure out clues and do different challenges to be able to move on to a new country. It was a race and the first group to complete all tasks was the winner. We also had prizes for the fastest times at each country. It worked out perfectly that each group won twice. :) We had a lot of fun!

We also had a Camping Day for Wacky Wednesday. We told scary stories in the tent, Ate S'mores, watched a movie in sleeping bags, and played camping bingo. We love camping day.

Zaliegh's mom Tavin came to school to teach us about Thailand. They lived there last year and taught us all that they knew. We were so glad to have someone that has actually lived there come talk to us. We tried Mango Sticky Rice. And it was yummy for some and interesting to others. :)

For Maker Spaces, Each group got a mystery bag and had to created a working machine only out of the supplies given. They kids made lots of interesting machines: Such as a Windmill, floating ships, and even a cleaning robot! Each group got to explain what they made and how it works.
